Jennifer Moore of Monaluna had a booth at Quilt Market for the first time to show her self-produced, organic collections Anika and Marin (which are arriving in stores right now) as well as her first collection Monaco. You can get a wee glimpse of her next collection, Taali, over on the Monaluna website! Also look [...]
Yara‘s traditional African fabrics really stood out from the crowd at Quilt Market. Although not traditional quilting fabric, many of these 100% cotton fabrics could be used to make really interesting and different quilts. Yara has a website, but all orders must be placed over the phone. Luckily, the owners are super friendly and will be [...]
Rashida Coleman-Hale, who writes at I heart linen, has a new collection for Timeless Treasures featuring robots (really cute robots!) and flowers. The collections is called I Heart and prints will come on quilting weight cotton and some prints will also come on a linen-cotton blend. The fabrics should be in stores later this month. [...]
Jessica Levitt, of Juicy Bits, was promoting her new line for Windham Fabrics, Kingdom. The collection hits stores in August. You can see the whole line on Jessica’s blog here.
Seven Islands is the U.S. distributor of Kokka fabric and other Japanese fabrics and notions. They were showing the new colors and patterns of Echino, which includes some favorite patterns in new colors: Some of the patterns are available on a woven nylon substrate, which would be great for bags or raincoats. Melody Miller‘s new [...]
Art Gallery Fabrics impressed with its prize-winning booth and lovely new prints. I spoke with Pat Bravo, who walked me through all that Art Gallery had to offer. The Pure Elements solids were a huge hit at market and at Sample Spree. They are remarkably soft and the colors are so vibrant. Pat said they will [...]
Lynn at EE Schenck also showed me a few new things coming from Henry Glass. Amy Hamberlin of Kati Cupcake Pattern Co. is coming out with Sugar Blossom, which will be in stores later this summer. Jill Finley‘s cheerful new project is named Sorbet Garden: Finally, I had just enough time to get see the [...]
I want to give a massive thank you to Lynn Kraus at EE Schenck (she also showed me Camelot and Henry Glass) for fitting me in, showing me some great stuff, and for being so enthusiastic about True Up and Kim. Lynn has developed a rad line of vinyl decals for sewists and quilters under [...]
Robert Kaufman also had a large showing of organic fabrics at market, including a line of organic solids, Pure Organic, which they continue to expand. The Little One collection by Katie Hennagir is also 100% organic and coordinates with the Pure Organic Solids. Pick a Bunch by Nancy Mims (Mod Green Pod) is also 100% [...]
I will admit that I have been putting off these posts because there is just so much to write about! The folks at Robert Kaufman had tons of new stuff to show at market and were very excited to share it all. One corner of the booth featured Kaufman’s Kona solids and the quilts created [...]
Tula Pink had a gorgeous booth at market — check out the columns which match the colors in the new collection. The new collection is called Prince Charming and comes in four coordinating colorways: Coral, Honey, Olive, and Indigo. There are 30 prints on quilting cotton, nine on voile, and four on laminated cotton. Coral: [...]
So, I’m not sure the next two companies technically fall into traditional True Up coverage, but I’m calling it close enough! Renaissance Ribbons probably provide most of the woven jaquard and fancier ribbons that you see at your local fabric store. They license designs from popular designers like Sue Spargo and Kaffe Fasset and their [...]
Both of these collections have gotten a lot of press– you can see Laurie Dewberry’s recap of market including some more beautiful booth pictures here. Anna Maria has also gone public with her Needleworks collection (there’s also a link there to a segment with the DIY Dish ladies explaining more details about LouLouThi). Kristen is [...]
This was Mark Cesarik’s first booth at Quilt Market. He and his wife Cara started releasing designs under the Sew Bettie moniker on Spoonflower. FreeSpirit picked them up, and they recently released Calypso Swing, a line of violets, pinks, black and grey quilt weight cottons. Mark takes care of the surface design, and Cara takes [...]
Let’s keep going, shall we? While I didn’t get all of FreeSpirit‘s new offerings, this covers the last of the the designers-without-booths that I did mange to collect. George Mendoza‘s Color of the Wind is all about the blues, oranges, and purples. FreeSpirit has printed two of the prints in two colorways on their microfleece, [...]
