If you read True Up you probably also read Print & Pattern by bowie style. But you may not know that bowie style’s real name is Marie Perkins, and that she also runs her own surface design studio called Inkjet Designs (here’s her blog, another must-read). Some of the most exciting news for me to come out [...]
Robert Kaufman has some exciting new basics. (And I know you’re with me when I call basics “exciting.”) My favorite for sure is the new Essex cotton-linen yarn dyes. The denim color wants to be paired with something Colette. Next, there are 16 new Quilter’s Linen colors, bringing the total up to 42. Quilter’s Linen [...]
Here are Robert Kaufman‘s collections for Halloween and Christmas 2012. Industry-wide, Holiday collections usually come out around May, but these may be slated for earlier. Pink Light Design takes over the ongoing Eerie Alley Halloween line this time around. Nordica Flannel is a cozy collection with with traditional Scandinavian winter motifs. Makes me want [...]
Lesley Grainger has a collection each for boys and girls. Launch, above (December 2011); and the all-flannel Pretty Paisley, below (2012). Flannel panel!
The big, bright, Scandinavian-inspired Stockholm is by Robin Zingone. It will be out January 2011.
Mission View is by Brejer, a husband-wife design team based in New York City. “Beachy” comes to mind for me — it has a modern hippie/boho/California/Hawaii feel. And definitely beachy: Surf Time, by Heidi Dobrott.
La Femme is a beautiful collection by Melissa Crowley of Red Bean Design. It will be printed on Robert Kaufman’s lovely Essex linen-cotton blend — the first print collection on this basecloth, I believe!
If you love Ann Kelle’s bold, graphic, colorful style, I bet you’ll also love Robert Kaufman newcomer Pink Light Designs. Black-and-white animals (and some non-black-and-white animals made to be black and white!) against solid color backgrounds, with classic coordinates. Look for Pink Light Design amongst the Holiday 2012 offerings too.
Fans of color color color and more color rejoice! Ann Kelle has bunches of new collections coming out. First up, Dessert Party. Then we have a flannel-only collection called Madeline. More of the popular Remix collection: And some now-classics in RK’s Slicker, the CPSIA-compliant laminated cotton. Ann Kelle is also represented in the Holiday [...]
Robert Kaufman’s greenSTYLE organic fabrics range continues to expand. Not only do we have The Lorax, but three other exciting modern collections. First, Modern Whimsy by Laurie Wisbrun. Again, I was in such a frenzy that I spaced on photographing the beautiful booth displays! But you can see Laurie’s here. You know she has a [...]
Amy Schimler‘s sweet new collection for Robert Kaufman is called Fly Away. The colorways are called Sunrise (above) and Sunset (below). It includes a large-scale border print (the Sunrise version is the third picture) that can be used for whole-cloth or almost-whole-cloth quilts. Large-scale border/panel/cheater prints were a distinct trend this market — see [...]
Jennifer Sampou is back! You may not be familiar with her work if you’re newish to the fabric world. She was creative director at P&B in the 90s, then later became one of Robert Kaufman’s first licensed designers. In 2005 she moved with her family to Mexico and took a break from the design world [...]
Robert Kaufman is continuing to build their selection of greenSTYLE organic fabrics. One of the new collections is Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax … of course! The quilting cotton collection is accompanied by new coordinating solids.
The Dr. Seuss licensed collections have been very successful for Robert Kaufman, so they are continuing to expand the selection. Celebrate Seuss! Is an Seuss all-star collection. I’ve been anticipating the appearance of my favorite Seuss book, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and here it is! Celebrate Seuss! and The Cat in [...]
Remember this fabric print by Amy Schimler that she printed with Spoonflower? A version of it is now the focus print in her new collection for Robert Kaufman, called Fly Away. See more prints here. Which puts the old time song “I’ll Fly Away” in my head, which makes it extra lovely. Amy is giving [...]
