Have you met Emmie, Allie, and Kyle? I love these ladies. They’re Robert Kaufman‘s marketing department and I feel like we’ve become good pals. It’s funny because the three quilt markets I’ve been to, the RK booth has always had the same configuration and these ladies have always been sitting in the same spots relative [...]
{ Meadow Colorway } { Plum Colorway } { Aqua Colorway } In case you missed it on Heather’s own blog, here is the full preview of the next iteration of her Far Far Away collection for Kokka. I’m already looking for the perfect dress pattern to pair with those roses. Unlike the first round [...]
This is a “Hogushi-Kasuri” linen fabric new to the wonderful shop Lin-net, who carries a wide range of linen fabrics and even some original cotton prints. Kasuri (or Gasuri) is a type of ikat weaving (or Kasuri is the Japanese word for ikat, I’m not sure). In Hogushi-Kasuri, the warp yarns are put on the [...]
{ Julie in Grey by Heidi Chisholm } We first met South African textile company Shine Shine last year when they released their Obama Commemorative Cloth. They didn’t have a website then, but they do now, and it was a delight to discover their other designs by Heidi Chisholm and James Grey. Chisholm’s designs are [...]
I’m always so excited to discover more textile designers who screenprint by hand. Swedish designer Maja Bäckström sells fabric and finished goods with her original designs on Etsy. Her basecloth of choice is linen, and cuts start at $19.50/fat quarter.

As I mentioned yesterday, the Australians have the market cornered on hand-screenprinted fabrics. Exhibit #3,258: Aunty Cookie’s new tone-on-tone, flocked braille prints on linen. She says you have to order some to be able to decode the message. Very cool to see this kind of experimentation. Available in black or white from her Etsy shop. [...]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I couldn’t find any more shamrock fabric that really got my heart thumping, but I did come across some actual green fabric from Ireland — this is “Heidi,” designed by Genia Sapper for Northern Ireland linen manufacturer Moygashel, from the collection of Miss Marmalade on Flickr. Here it is in a [...]
Michelle Engel Bencsko of Cicada Studio has just introduced these four lovely and versatile geometric designs on cotton/linen blend fabric. I loved her recent collection Nature Baby too.
Woodland is a gorgeous new hand-screenprinted fabric from Danielle of Of Paper and Thread. Pictured is a hemp/cotton basecloth, but it will also be available in a linen/cotton blend. Woodland can be purchased now from her Etsy shop.
British company Rapture and Wright has been in operation since 2002. The pair Rebecca Aird and Peter Thwaites hand-screenprint their own designs on linen and silk woven in the UK. Prices range from £60-70 per meter. They also offer handprinted wallpaper and finished home accessories. See distributors here.
Beth Rawlinson from Madison, Wisconsin designs fabric that is screenprinted in Belgium. She sells the fabric as well as finished products (pillows, lampshades, totes, and cosmetic bags) through her website. The fabrics are a cotton-linen blend upholstery weight fabric. Some of her designs are even on sale right now.
