The booth showcasing Etsuko Furuya’s Echino Fall 2011 collection was full of greatness. It also demonstrated that you can do anything with cotton-linen that you can do with quilting cotton, and then some. At the bottom, two “bonus prints” that will be delivering to stores later — everything else is already out. Apologies [...]
I’m sad to have missed Prints Charming‘s U.S. tour, but seeing their new collection Daisy Chain in action, complete with the beautiful embroidery that inspired it, was almost like having Cath and Kirsten there. Those oranges and corals are just magnetic, aren’t they? Related posts: Prints Charming: Daisy Chain Fall Quilt Market 2011: Daisy [...]
I got to spend a little more time with Melody Miller and Allison this time around at Quilt Market, and I can vouch for the fact that they’re as awesome as they seem. I just want everyone to move to Austin so I can hang out with them more! I am in love with Melody’s [...]
{ Lanikai } There are at least two brand-new fabric companies on the scene, both focused on modern fabrics. I’m excited to meet them both at Quilt Market this weekend … I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of them around here on this blog. One of the companies is Dear Stella. Timeless Treasures is [...]
Art Gallery Fabrics‘ newest collection is Modernology, designed of course by Pat Bravo. This may be my favorite collection of hers yet. In fact my first attempt at putting together a Fat Quarter Shop Blogger’s Choice Fat Quarter Bundle was largely based on it, until I realized Amy Ellis’ bundle was almost the same! Great [...]
There is a kind of dance in the design world over what the next “hip” animal will be. Seeing the Echino Fall 2011 collection, I imagine Etsuko Furuya popping and locking herself into the center ring and doing her classic moves. Birds. Deer. Owls. And everyone thinks, daaaaaamn, some say they’re played out now, but [...]
Is anyone still resisting the fact that the 80s are back? Marimekko Autumn 2011′s collection has several prints from their 1980s archives, but it’s not about being retro. I think it’s more that after 20 years of computer-generated lines, people are longing for the genuine texture of hand-rendered art. These prints from the Fujiwo Ishimoto, [...]
Also new from Timeless Treasures is Hoodie‘s L’Amour de La Vie. The Parisian theme is a perennial favorite, and Hoodie has made it her own with folky, graphic, and colorful styling. As she writes on her website, “Black Ground is all year around!” In addition to the quilting cottons, at least one of these prints [...]
Elephants on Parade is a new in-house collection from Timeless Treasures. The bright colors and black backgrounds give it such a 60s-70s vibe, and I’m loving the village print. Elephants on roofs! Spotted at Hancock’s of Paducah. Related posts: Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Timeless Treasures – More (Mostly Kids’) Novelties Timeless Treasures: Petit Village [...]
