Kelli Anderson designed these combination invitation/driving directions/hankies for Brooklyn-based photographer Youngna Park‘s upcoming wedding. This is a perfect example how digital textile printing’s powers can be used for highly customized applications. Photo from youngna on Flickr, via Craftzine.
I’ve loved Heidi Kenney and her blog My Paper Crane since the beginning of craftblogdom. Of course she’s as prolific with her great fabric designs as she is in other media. She has 40+ designs for sale on Spoonflower and it’s hard to pick a favorite! (Incidentally, you can order a swatch of Heidi’s fabric, [...]
Two cool things happening tomorrow (8/26/10): Spoonflower’s second Free Swatch Day starts at noon EST and runs through noon the next day. Details here. And if you’re anywhere near Berlin, don’t miss this Organic Cotton Info Event co-sponsored by Volksfaden. Details here. – And speaking of Spoonflower, Rayela’s Fiber Focus has posted a tutorial by [...]
These two prints were designed by Julia Monroe and form a mini 70s fabric collection. The houses were reproduced from a felt-on-burlap piece she made when she was 12, and the granny squares were inspired by an afghan she made with her mom. I love the idea of using digital textile printing to preserve childhood [...]
Via Wren, I learned that this year is the 250th birthday of toile. She created two toile patterns (including “Darling Toile,” above) in honor of her native South Africa for the design magazine Visi. They’re free for download from this link. Even if you’re not interested in toile or modern twists on it, it’s worth [...]
These are just a few of the cute and clever fabrics designed by Milktooth, aka Lisa Mirella of Portland, OR. Found through Spoonflower favoriting!
I discovered Leah Duncan at the Renegade Craft Fair this year in Austin. Her amazing range of products includes prints, cards, calendars, scarves, tea towels, pillow covers, and digitally printed fabrics. I love her very modern spin on southwestern and Mexican themes that pops up in her work here and there — I’ve never seen [...]
I’m loving the animal stylings and muted color palette of Trois Miettes, who is Isabelle from Bern, Switzerland. Some but not all of the designs above are for sale through the Spoonflower marketplace. See her full portfolio and find her blog through her website. She also has an Etsy shop through which she sells her [...]
I’ve had my eye on this bird design by Amy Schimler since she posted it on her blog last month, and now it’s finally available via the Spoonflower marketplace. You wouldn’t know it from the image above, but the birds are about 6″ wide! Digital printing allows her painterly style to really shine.
Thanks to my favorite European fabric-printing addict Smil, I’ve discovered the new German digital fabric printing service Stoff’n. Right now they offer four 100% cotton basecloths: a medium-weight plain-weave, a sateen, a jersey knit, and an upholstery weight, and ship within Europe only (sorry, rest of the world!) Despite that I’m very much enjoying looking [...]
{ Play With Me fabric and the cutest shirt ever made with the print on organic cotton interlock } { In the Forest fabric, and knit pajamas with fox patch available from kunterbunt design } { An Apple a Day and Strawberry Field } In case you didn’t take my advice yesterday and check out [...]
I normally go for bold and graphic, but I love a good painted floral too. Digital printing is tailor made for painted designs — no painstaking color reduction necessary. I love these designs by C’est La Viv, aka Vivian Ducas of Toronto. Three collections of hers, Garden Lark, Circles and Squares, and Paisley Crazy are [...]
Liz Scott, who designs and sells digitally printed fabrics under her brand Wonderfluff (True Up post), has been picked up by Moda! Her collection, Sugar Pop, will be out in December 2010. Here’s a little sneak peek — see even more on Liz’s blog. On her inspiration: Sugar Pop stems from my love for all [...]
Dotty Logic is the brand name for the original fabric and handmade creations of Jasonda Desmond of Vancouver, Canada (via Texas). Jasonda just opened her Etsy shop and introduced her first fabric collection, Beachcomber, which is digitally printed on GOTS-certified 100% organic cotton sateen. The seaside-themed prints are in a lovely soft palette of pink, [...]
Polly Danger Notions makes bias tape (and more) from vintage and new fabrics. (via the Fabric Bar blog) Two articles about digital printing trends in fashion — Wall Street Journal, Khaleej Times. Sewing tips for sheer fabrics, on the Fabric.com blog. Superbuzzy just went to Japan, and got to see lots of new stuff that [...]
