Fall Quilt Market 2009: Blank Quilting

Although I love meeting the popular contemporary designers, seeing their work up close, and (hopefully) absorbing some of their talent just by standing near them, one of my favorite parts of Quilt Market last year was making discoveries at more traditional and lesser known (to our market segment, anyway) manufacturers’ booths. And alas, I didn’t get to do much of that this time around! I did get to visit Blank Quilting, since they were right across from the Fabric Shop Network’s booth, where I stopped often to visit with Laurie Harsh and Sarah Schlosser-Moon.

You might remember last year’s Morning Call by New-York based designer Hoodie. Hoodie actually has several collections available now, including Cutie Pie (with the paper dolls), Spring Fever (with the butterflies), and Sparkling Paris (Eiffel Tower and poodles).

All these collections are available now. Also with Blank Quilting is designer Yolanda Fundora, whose online portfolio I am eager to explore. Below are some striking florals and tone-on-tone paisleys from her current collections Garden Party and Sketchbook.

You can add paisley and paper dolls to the list of themes I saw from multiple fabric collections this year!

    I love those Hoodie collections. I have some of the Morning Call stashed to make my family napkins and place mats. Now I just need some time.

    There are some very nice things here! Cute prints and great colorways. I like at least a little of each collection you’re showing. And I like a lot of Cute Pie.

    That Hoodie is so talented, but Blank has done a terrible job marketing her lines to the right crowd, in my opinion. We have Cutie Pie and 2 other Hoodie groups in the shop right now.
