Fabric on Demand

fabric-on-demand

Another digital textile printer marketing mainly to the online crafting community has recently opened for business: Fabric on Demand, based in South Carolina with additional offices in southern California. With custom fabrics beginning around $23/yard, they are more expensive than Spoonflower, but they do offer five different fabric choices (42″ wide 6oz 100% cotton; 60″ wide 4.9oz 35% cotton/65% polyester broadcloth; 61″ wide 1.25 ounce fleece; 52″ wide 10.2oz cotton duck; and 61″ wide, 7.4 oz Micro-Denier suede). They also offer unlimited yardage.

Fabric on Demand has a handy turnaround indicator on their home page (currently 10 days), and they offer free samples of their base cloths. They do not currently have a color chart that would allow customers to design based on the fabric printer’s output, but staffer Rysa told me that’s likely on the way.

It’s quite unbelievable that I have not tried digital fabric printing yet. Why, it’s practically my civic duty! Someone kick my butt, please!
