Spring Quilt Market 2012: Liberty Lifestyle

One of the biggest announcements to come right before Quilt Market was the first Lifestyle collection by Liberty of London. What does that mean? It means that the beauty and loveliness that embodies the spirit of Liberty of London and its supple Tana cotton lawn prints will now be printed upon midweight/quilting cotton. The biggest bonus is price. These are anticipated to be between $12 and $13 per yard stateside. Slated to arrive in August, the Bloomsbury collection is the first of the Lifestyle division of Liberty of London. The designer of the collection is in house and was inspired by London’s Bloomsbury neighborhood, where he resides. He wanted to stay true to the Liberty aesthetic but also try out some different elements. The collection has a beautiful mix of florals, both structured and slightly impressionistic, as well as geometrics. In several colorways, the prints have a great deal of versatility and from the samples, the weight of the fabric will be ideal for most projects. They even had director chairs outfitted in the fabric and it looked ah-mazing! Many people passing by couldn’t help but pet the chairs and linger over the booth. It was very simple in nature yet, just like Liberty, captivating.

Another collection will be announced in Houston for Fall market. If the second round is anything like the first, we’ll be in good hands!

  1. [...] I heard rumors the possibility of a quilt-weight Liberty line, but didn’t hear anything from Liberty about it until I ran smack dab into their booth at market last month. Needless to say, it’s a perfect fit for CityCraft and I can’t wait for it to arrive. (August, I believe?) We will be stocking 18 of our favorite prints. I bet you can guess which ones Our friends over at True Up are giving you a sneak peek today. Check it out. [...]
