Fall Quilt Market 2012: Marcia Derse

All right. Here it is. I confess. I am not an unbiased reporter when it comes to Marcia Derse. I’ll try not to gush. Too much. But I just love her designs. I L-O-V-E her designs.

So, yes, please, let’s stop at her booth the very first thing on the very first morning of quilt market. Her new and lovely fabrics did not disappoint. I will also confess that with the stars in my eyes, I may not have all the details right on what is the newest of the new. Because, you see, it all plays so nicely together that is seems seamless. Oh, right — wait a minute — that’s why I wrote some of it down.

Marcia’s latest designs for Troy Corporation’s Riverwoods Collection fabrics are her Petites (smaller versions of some her previous designs, the Basketweave Collection and the Lines Collection.

She also has 42 modern textures — her version of solids.

In the end, Marcia’s designs did all the talking here, didn’t they? I am practically left speechless. The colors, the textures, the exuberance, the interplay, the overlap, the line, the curve. Her fabrics just speak to me in a way that makes clear that she has thought a lot of this through for us and we just need to cut and sew and find the gifts she has hidden for us in a “choose your own adventure” kind of way.

::Sigh::
