Fall Quilt Market 2012: Birch Fabrics

Birch Fabrics is growing by leaps and bounds. Go Birch Go! Coming this season they’re expanding into new substrates and bringing on new licensees, including a very huge name.

Jay-Cyn Designs will have three variations on a theme in three fabric types: organic quilting cotton, organic cotton canvas, and organic cotton knit. The home decor canvas collection is called The Grove, and it includes a patchwork cheater-type print as its centerpiece. I love the color palette of mustard and navy, light blue and soft red, with gray as the neutral. Elk Grove, the quilting cotton collection, is an entirely different set of prints in the same palette but with a yellow-green added to the mix. Elk Grove Knits will be printed on a nice, substantial interlock, and the simple chevrons, floral, and elk prints will lend themselves well to kids’ and grown-up clothes. The three-collections-in-one will be available around April-May 2013.

Jay-Cyn’s quilting cotton collections Camp SurCamp Modern, and the nautical Set Sail are all available now.

Next to the Set Sail quilt, we have rock poster/graphic designer Dan Stiles’ next collection Safari Soiree, out very soon (January 2013):

At Market, Birch formally announced their extremely exciting new partnership with the late illustration/design legend Charley Harper. They’ll be working with Todd Oldham‘s studios to bring his iconic animals to fabric … expect to see the designs unveiled at the next quilt market!

And that’s not all. March-April 2013 will see Robotic by Rebekah Ginda and Yay! Day! by Emily Isabella, and Just For Fun, a greatest hits/basics collection from Jay-Cyn Designs, follows in June. And their Mod Basics 2, complementing the Elk Grove Suite very well, will be out in April-May.
