Ellen Rushman and Madeline Roberg met each other while studying at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Nebraska. They became fast friends and took a road trip together to the Fall Quilt Market this past year. Inspired by the things they saw and the people they met, they formed The Printed Bolt and devised a Project Runway-like competition for fabric designers … and the best part is, they’re actually making it happen! Repeat: A Design Competition / Repeat: A Design Competition (ha! love it) will have 10 designers competing in six design challenges online from March through September. It’s sure to be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to flex your design muscles. The grand prize list is still growing, but right now includes $500 toward a trip to the Fall 2012 Quilt Market.
I’ve been asked to join as a guest judge for one of the challenges, and of course I said yes! See the list of my fellow judges here — it includes some big names from the traditional quilt, modern quilt, fiber art, and surface design worlds. Learn more about the requirements for entry here. Entry deadline is March 3, 2012. I hope to see you there!
