Taking a Poll …

I’d love to know your thoughts on this. I love all the modern (and especially hand-printed) tea towels, cushions, and other home textiles out there but have always waffled about featuring them here. What do you think? Are these products just fabric with hems, or would I be diluting my “all fabric, all the time” promise? (Feed readers might need to jump over to the site to answer the poll. You can also vote on Facebook.)

Would you like to see textiles such as tea towels, pillows, and bedding featured on True Up?

You should put all tea towels, etc. in a separate blog. Keep this one fabric only!

I agree. Start another blog! Keep this one fabric only. I am not really interested in tea towels. I don’t really understand them. LOL!

Ditto – separate blog for tea towels and linens. Keep this one for fabric only.

I think those items ARE just fabric with hems (or at least that’s how I see them, especially when they’re on sale)! Re-making and re-fashioning already made items is big these days and you often can’t buy yardage of fabric seen in already made items. Go for it! I would love to see them!

I voted yes. I’d love to see even more types of textiles here with the different prints etc.

I’m ambivalent. I would vote yes on the teatowels (in particular) — I buy those all the time to use in my sewing, so to me they really are just fabric with hems. Not so much bedding, and definitely not 3D items like cushions or clothing, unless they are examples of prints that are available as yardage. Otherwise, the blog might start to slip into being a design blog, not a textiles blog, and there are already plenty of design blogs out there…

Voted yes – I would love to see tea towels, but I see the ease in keeping if fabric only.

  6. I voted yes, because I love those things too, but… you have a great niche for “just fabric”! Perhaps a once-monthly roundup of great textiles IN USE – home decor, apparel, art/design, etc.

Great idea Jasonda! I voted “no” but I can see how an occasional “fabrics in use” would allow you to showcase these other items without losing the focus of your blog and perhaps keep you inspired creatively.

      • Very well put, Jasonda. I was going to post yesterday after voting “no” that I was so torn on how to vote. I think that a “fabrics in use” day in the month would be a great idea. I so love the “all fabrics all the time”!

      • Great idea to see fabrics in use, but to have it as a feature of the blog; writing a whole seperate blog seems like a lot more work than just to have a feature.

I voted no, but I like Jasonda’s idea!

I’m with Jeanne and Jasonda – I have interest in items that have potential for re-fashioning, or are inspirational. For instance, Red Pepper Quilts recently used an Orla Kiely flat sheet for THE most perfect quilt backing. I didn’t know there was such a thing as Orla Kiely sheets (and couldn’t afford them, I’m sure).
