Spring Quilt Market 2011: Robert Kaufman
I will admit that I have been putting off these posts because there is just so much to write about! The folks at Robert Kaufman had tons of new stuff to show at market and were very excited to share it all.
One corner of the booth featured Kaufman’s Kona solids and the quilts created during the Modern Quilt Guild‘s Kona Challenge.
Suzy Ultman‘s new line Appleville features adorable apple people, worm houses, and paper dolls.
Kaufman was also showing a second Suzy Ultman collection, Critter Community. Reminds me of Charley Harper‘s animal prints, which I love.
Ann Kelle‘s Urban Zoologie is still going strong, and there are some additional coordinates available, including some awesome argyle and zigzag prints.
In addition to her own lines, Jennifer Moore of Monaluna also has a new collection Metro Market for Kaufman.
Kaufman was also showing Laurie Wisbrun‘s Pooches and Pickups.
Here is the Tree of Life collection by Sapna Shah, which comes on super soft cotton flannel and includes a nice large tree panel print.
Next up, Just Dandy by Josephine Kimberling. I love the sketchy background of the floral prints.
Darlene Zimmerman‘s new 1930s collection is inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Some gorgeous black and white animal prints by Sue Coccia called Animal Spirits. I thought it would be a neat kid’s craft project to color these in with fabric markers.
In addition to their prints, Kaufman also has an interesting selection of solids and wovens.
There are some new colors in the Essex cotton/linen:
Kona Colorworks by Patrick Lose has some awesome woven ginghams, stripes, and plaids.
The Mad for Madras collection contains patchwork madras patterns that are two layers, similar in feel to double gauze, but with more body.
Kaufman also has some new licensed collections coming out, including Dr. Suess’s The Lorax. (How can you not love the Lorax — he speaks for the trees!) The Lorax will be avail for shops to order in July, and will be shipping in January 2012.
[Disclosure: The folks at Robert Kaufman generously provided fabric to me for the Block Party book and for a giveaway at the Block Party schoolhouse, but I did not receive anything of value from Robert Kaufman in exchange for writing this post.]

Wow, so many great fabrics.
Do know when the Dr Suess Lorax fabric will be out in stores?
I see Michelle beat me to my question, I must have some of that Lorax fabric. Do you know when it will be in the stores?
Same re the lorax! I must must have it!!!
The Lorax is my all-time favourite book, and my kids’ too.
Hi Michelle, Dana, and Anna- The Lorax fabric will be available for shops to order in July and will be in stores January 2012.
Kim, I am in love with the Robert Kaufman Kona solids. Especially the blue/green quilt that you see just an edge of in your picture of the rainbow solid quilt. Could you please show a bigger picture of the full blue/green quilt? I am so inspired.
Ruth-
Unfortunately, I don’t have a better picture, but you can see some other shots on the Robert Kaufman flickr stream here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertkaufman/with/5791202652/
