Fall Quilt Market 2011: Cloud9 – Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gennine Zlatkis

I think this is true of all the small organic fabric companies, but I think Cloud9 Fabrics, with the caliber of their designs and the breadth of artists they are getting onto fabric, is pushing the industry forward in a big way. The collections they were showing at Market — their current collections as well as the ones they were previewing on paper — simply blow me away. It’s such a thrill to see this little company grow.

Maman, drawn by Anne Marie Murphy and transformed into repeating designs by Michelle Engel Bencsko (who happens to be Murphy’s granddaughter, and the co-owner of Cloud9 Fabrics), is new in stores. It’s one of their premium collections and would make for the most sophisticated nursery ever.

Alegria by Geninne Zlatkis is going to start 2012 off strong. It’s a price sensitive collection:

Simpatico, by Michelle Engel Bencsko, is a basics-with-flair collection. Not sure when it’s coming out.

Cloud9′s wrapup posts have more info on the collections and the samples they used to show them off.
