Mwendas is a shop based in Singapore that sells authentic Japanese fabric from Yuwa, Lecien, and other manufacturers — amongst owner Fridah’s inventory you’ll find difficult-to-find designers Suzuko Koseki, Fumika Oishi, Keiko Goke, and Kumiko Fujita, and characters like Miffy. I’ve included some of my own favorites here. She recently became a True Up sponsor so we’re holding a pretty awesome giveaway today — two readers will each win a $50 gift certificate to spend in the shop on any of her fabrics, notions, books, tools, and craft supplies.
Here’s what you’ve gotta do to win! You can enter up to four times:
- By visiting Mwendas to hunt around for your favorite print, then come back and leave a comment telling us what it was.
- By Liking Mwendas on Facebook — she often posts exclusive discounts and specials there, so you should do this anyway! Please leave an additional comment here indicating you’ve done this.
- By spreading the word of this giveaway on Twitter or Facebook (use the tag #mwendas on Twitter or @mwendasonline on Facebook). Please leave an additional comment for each one of these you’ve done.
We will be gathering up all these entries this Friday, May 20, around 10am central U.S. time, and drawing the two winners randomly from that pool

The print you have shown above, Touou Brown Patches Linen Collection, is my favorite in the shop! I have a MA in German Literature and my husband is a native German citizen. His nickname for me is “schnecke” (snail as you can see on the fabric picture) – which is a term of endearment in Germany… equivalent to honey or darling… not sure how snail translates into darling but i’ll take it haha. Great shop and wonderful giveaway!

I’m really loving the touyou patches prints. They’d be great incorporated into the kitchen somehow, maybe on an apron! I’m also loving anything boy-ish lately (since I’m realizing that most of my prints are girly and I don’t have much for my little guy!). One of my favorites is the Traffic Jam print.

Deco Umbrellas on Blue – love the yellowish orange on the blue background. I added it to my favorites on Etsy and hearted the shop.

My favourite has got to be Jungle Big House on White. What a cute shop!
Without doubt, my favorite print in the Mwendas shop right now is the Keiko Goke Cheerful Stripe in Cream Yellow. I love it! It would look excellent as a binding on a quilt or, really, in any projects. If I won this generous giveaway I would probably spend the whole pot on multiple yards of just this one print!
My favorite is the Frogs on Green Pond, although the frog and umbrella prints that are in the posts were also among my top choices. What a great shop! Thanks!

My favorite was “Sevenberry Deco Flowers” – very different from what I’d normally pick, but I thought it was really interesting.
