Cut Out & Keep Bird-and-Proteas

Cut Out & Keep by textile designer extraordinaire Heather Moore (Skinny LaMinx) is the first Designer Series collection for Cloud9 Fabrics. It’s based on her papercut designs, and as you can see, the collection is composed of four pairings of two prints using the same colors. I really like this approach — not that I don’t also like more traditional collections made up of focus and coordinating prints, but sometimes I wonder what is lost when that’s all designers and manufacturers become accustomed to doing.

Anyway! Heather’s midcentury-modern-inspired yet also very modern-modern designs are so up my alley it’s not even funny. I always dream of being able to travel back in time just to go fabric shopping, but collections like these make me more than happy to stay put in 2011.

  7. These are great and I prefer the way they are styled based on her four pairings I think this aims them much more towards the sewer than the quilter. I think I’ll have to buy some of these. thanks
