One of the new Kokka collections I was excited about at Fall Quilt Market was Yoshie Milk‘s. Her collage-y illustration style immediately reminded me of Lauren Child (who happens to have several designs in the Spring 2011 Liberty Tana Lawn collection!). Yoshie Milk’s collection is just now hitting the stores — it’s called Miriporun. It [...]

OK, wow, since I last checked, the iTunes store has exploded with apps related to the word “fabric.” I’ll just have to take a look at some of them (except for the virtual ironing app — no thanks!) and let you know if they’re worth their while, but in the meanwhile, I wholeheartedly recommend The [...]
A day late, hopefully not a dollar short … the winner of the copy of Quilt Remix is: Beth T. who wrote, “By now I am totally in love with this book and in awe of this quilter. I began quilting in the trad style, in the tradition of my grandmother. Lately I’ve been wanting [...]
Organic interior fabric and wallpaper company Mod Green Pod has just introduced a special edition of their Anticipate design for 2011. It is a 54″ wide, upholstery weight, organic cotton canvas that is grown, woven, and printed in the United States (with nine colors, no less). See more on the mgp blog.
U.K. screenprinting artist Lu Summers has a new fabric in her shop (Summersville), a clever/simple/cool pattern of different paintbrush strokes. It comes in a few colors including this darker teal. The 10×14″ pieces are great for small projects.
How’s about some cute for your Monday morning? These are new cotton-linen prints in the ongoing Puti de Pome collection from Japanese manufacturer Kiyohara. They’re a little bit more expensive than other Japanese fabrics, but kind of irresistible, wouldn’t you say? These were spotted at Superbuzzy.
Gant Powell is a NYC-based illustrator and essayist who says in his Spoonflower profile that he’s “experimenting with surface design.” Well please keep experimenting … I would love to see more sophisticated, hand-drawn designs like this out there. See Gant’s portfolio here.
Painterly dress fabric prints — especially florals — seemed to be popular throughout the mid-1900s but definitely had their heyday in the 50s. These are all from Donna Flower in the U.K., who happens to be having a 15% off sale through January. I haven’t done all that well in maintaining my Pinterest account, but [...]

You’ve got your Deadheads, your Phishheads … what do you call people who follow blog tours? I guess in this case I’ll call them Cierheads, because CarolinaPatchworksheads (for Emily Cier’s popular quilt pattern company) is too cumbersome. Remixheads (for her brand new book Quilt Remix) might also work, what do you think? Anyway, it’s the [...]
I don’t think I knew that IKEA had linen amongst their fabrics. This simple dot (also available in bleached linen with black dots) is sold as a pre-cut panel, 118″x35″.
This blog will turn three years old in just a couple months, and I haven’t yet written a post about the sewing term after which this site is named — trueing up. For shame! Well, let’s make up for lost time. “True up” means means to make balanced, straight, square. In sewing, it means to [...]
