Spring Quilt Market 2010 – Hokkoh

Hokkoh - Sign

We first met Japanese manufacturer Hokkoh last fall. This market they were back showing two new and extremely gorgeous collections, Forest and Wa-Modern. Both are modern takes on traditional Japanese themes and techniques. Forest has woodland motifs rendered in a painterly fashion — or would you call that batik? And Wa-Modern is literally “Japanese Modern,” which perfectly describes its style. I can’t take my eyes off this one — so pretty.

Also, I wish all companies displayed all the swatches from a collection together on one board like this — very convenient for tired bloggers!

Hokkoh prints on a super high quality plain weave cotton with a lovely, satiny finish. Sorry, but I don’t know when these collections will be shipping to stores, but I would assume very soon. See more pictures and sewn samples on Flickr.
