Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Windham – Bari J.

The illustrious Bari J. had her first booth at market to show off her latest fabric collection Country Lane and her scores of sewing patterns (including four new ones), and to preview her beautiful-looking book that comes out in early 2011. I knew Bari was a handbag-maker before she began in fabric design, but I don’t think I’d ever seen her work up close — the style, quality, the attention to detail, and the fabric choices, are all awesome.

Bari introduced Country Lane at this year’s Spring quilt market — I took this shot at her schoolhouse. It’s a vintage quilt that inspired Country Lane. It’s so cool how she captured the colors and spirit while not being derivative of the prints. Navy and red are one of my favorite vintage fabric color combos, so naturally I’m drawn to this collection.

I got to go out to dinner with Bari after Market was over (while I waited for the rush hour traffic to subside before driving back to Austin), and she let me peek at her new collection for Lecien. I’m can’t divulge anything, except that you’ll love it!

  1. Kim – I love the patchwork quilts here – they are absolutely stunning. Did you make them yourself? The detail is wonderful. What is it about bundles of cotton fabric that prompts some women to go out and buy some and then stash it away? ~ sigh ~
