Kyla May is an Australian artist with several popular character brands, some of which have their own animated TV series in Australia. Her first brand, Smirk, “is a quirky, sassy collection of characters that combine the simplicity of child drawn stick figures with adult tongue in cheek with and intelligence,” according to her website. It started out as a greeting card range a decade ago and has grown into a “non-stop licensing juggernaut.” And what is any licensing juggernaut without a fabric collection? Even if you’re not familiar with the characters, I think these vintage video game-inspired prints will make nerds worldwide go nuts.
The prints below are still only on paper, and I took the shots from a binder, hence the shine. I could see these being on laminate cottons, but I think they will only be regular quilting fabrics.
Continuing the theme of digital entertainment, a couple social media-inspired (parody?) prints from the Timeless Treasures Studio:
And a tattoo collection by 245 Design, for punk rock babies:
Timeless Treasures is perhaps best known for their one-off novelty prints and novelty mini-collections, so I’ll leave you with several of those!
This Jungle collection is TT’s entry into organic printed cotton:
There’s even more in the Flickr set. Huge thanks to retail director Lisa Denney for taking the time to show all these to me! Most of these will be in stores in late 2010-early 2011.
