Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Robert Kaufman – Basics
It’s Robert Kaufman day! The company has a few new collections that can be described as “modern basics.” These are versatile prints in trendy colorways. Night and Day is a little less basic, I’d say, but very sophisticated. The 2-3 color prints are useful for so many applications. Metro Living centers on classic motifs and, you’ll love this amidst the talk of higher prices industry-wide, they will be sold at a lower price point, somewhere between solids and their designer collections.
Both are in stores now.
Metro Living (Part 1, out now):
And here’s a glimpse at Metro Living II, which will be out mid-2011.
(Notice how these are on paper but include small snippets of the print on fabric — you’ll see a lot of this today amongst the Robert Kaufman collections. It is amazing how different prints can look between paper (or screen) and fabric. If you’ve ever heard of designers struggling with strike-offs, I hope this helps you understand why!)
Lastly, Double Happiness by Wooster & Prince, who are new to Robert Kaufman but have are big in the stationery world. Not basics like the other collections, but I thought I’d include them here since Metro Living coordinates with their prints.
