Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Michael Miller – Patty Young

Michael Miller - Patty Young - Sanctuary

Patty Young has been one of the industry leaders in educating the market about sewing with less familiar substrates. Here she is with her husband Jon, modeling samples of her new sewing patterns for polyester double knit and velour.

Heh. Wouldn’t that be something? Really, their booth was to introduce Sanctuary, Patty’s first collection on cotton shirting (which is a woven fabric with a weight between lawn and quilting cotton), and it also includes six prints on Michael Miller’s high-quality interlock knit. I love the tile theme running throughout the prints — very evocative of a spa. The booth also showed off Patty’s newest Modkid patterns — a skirt for woven fabrics and a T-shirt/dress pattern, each in a girls’ and ladies’ version. (I love how she named them — go check them out.

I purchased the skirt pattern shown above (Madeline) – it was super easy and quick to sew! There are actually 4 different variations so you can use it over and over without anyone being the wiser. I already ordered more fabric to make another one :)
