Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Michael Miller – Clubhouse and More
Another big cool new thing Michael Miller is launching is the Michael Miller Clubhouse. They teamed up with Swirly Girls Design to create a modern version of the hugely popular block of the month-type clubs (that I always hear about but have to admit I didn’t really understand, till now!) This version is one that both brick & mortar and online shops can participate in.
Through their favorite participating shop, individuals sign up for the program and receive fabrics and instructions to make a different section of this quilt each month. The idea with the choice of fabric collection (Bonnes Amies, from the Michael Miller Studio) and quilt pattern (by the Swirly Girls) was to bridge modern and traditional tastes, which I think they did ingeniously. And not only do members receive the necessary supplies, they also get bonus projects and party ideas, access to tutorials, chances at door prizes, a website to share progress with participants worldwide, and (this is so cute) a “clubhouse cash” program. The shop can choose to distribute the Clubhouse Cash any way they see fit, like to club members who get their section done first, or bring other members in, wear awesome shoes, whatever. The shop can then hold auctions for various prizes, or have other creative ways for people to spend the money.
Here are more fabrics from the Michael Miller in-house design team. First, these swinging Sixties novelty prints, which inspired their always-awesome booth theme, complete with faux cigarettes, dresses made from curtains, and sadly-just-for-show cocktail sets.
And some additions to their ever-evolving Baby and Kids collections:
“Plaidsportation.” Another entry in the best name ever category.
These dinosaurs are amongst MM’s new crop of knits, which also includes a great faux denim texture print so realistic that you can’t tell from looking at it that it’s not denim (the picture didn’t do it justice … you’ll just have to see it in person).
A colorful and versatile paisley group:
New corduroys:
Awesome sugar skulls:
And a new tattoo mini-collection:
All these will be in stores very soon, probably by the end of the year. Next, the designer booths …

Holy smokes! I am loving this collection! Woot Woot!!!
