Fall Quilt Market 2010 – FreeSpirit Designer Basics

Freespirit Basics

Let the FreeSpirit/Westminster barrage begin! I have about 250 images from more than a dozen collections — it’s overwhelming! But let’s start with the basics …

FreeSpirit recently introduced a collection of basic/tonal/blender prints to join their Designer Solids. The basics are more modern than typical blender prints — there are dots, houndstooth, scribbles (called Twine), and pebbles (called Insincts), as well as a few others. I like the paint metaphor they used for the display, and the wonderful color wheel quilts.

There are now 100 Designer Solids, meant to coordinate with their designer’s prints. I don’t know if you can buy a sample card anywhere, but I’ll try to find out.

These color cards of Kaffe Fassett classics (yarn dyed stripes and classic prints) were also irresistible.

One wonders why we see so little online chit chat about their fabrics (compared to say RK or Moda) when they are clearly SO geared at us… Why not better marketing oh Freespirit marketing people? I didn’t know about their solids until I saw them in a store – and let me tell you, my eyes are OPEN to this sort of thing…
