Spring Quilt Market 2010: Clothworks [with Giveaway!]
For the first time, I got to meet with the Seattle-based Clothworks at this Market — more specifically, Brandi Frey, the company’s Marketing Coordinator and half of their blogging team. I have always admired Clothworks’ online presence (their website has everything a gal could ask for in a fabric company website!) and I know they’ve been making themselves known on the modern fabric scene with designers like Ellen Crimi-Trent. So it was great to sit down with them and find out what they’ve got in store for the coming seasons.
Perhaps my favorite collection was Les Jardin de Papillons by Australian designer Chris Chun (shown above). (Please forgive the looming shadows on all these shots, by the way.) This will be out in November.
Clothworks has joined forces with Japanese manufacturer Kinkame to bring their fabrics to the U.S. market. Like some of the other Japanese companies, Kinkame offers both traditional and modern/kawaii fabric collections. In the Japanese Cute arena, we have Toy Poodle, and it’s arriving in shops as we speak. This a basics line that will keep building over time. Also from Kinkame is Shades, a rainbow of ombre solids:
Milly is a very sweet little collection by Ellen Ries, available Fall 2010.
I also thought the watercolory Celebration by Masha D’yans was lovely — I also liked her debut collection, the Valentine’s themed Cherie. This is another Fall 2010 collection.
See more upcoming collections from Clothworks on Flickr and of course on their website.
I’m also excited to see fellow Austinite Kathy York’s debut fabric collection, Urban Landscapes, Funky Kitchen by Barb Tourtillotte, and Into the Woods by Sharon Sowell (all summer 2010 releases).
Now, I’m keeping it mellow with Quilt Market giveaways this time around — but I do have some current collections from Clothworks for you today! Take a look:
A fat quarter pack of Ellen Crimi-Trent’s Bird Talk …
A fat quarter pack of the cute and quirky Mayfly Mischief by Tony Fernandes …
and a swatch pack of Toy Poodle by Kinkame! Just let me know in the comments which one tickles your fancy the most, and I’ll draw separately for each pack. Comments will close and the winners will be drawn next Friday, June 4 (not sure about the time yet!), and this will be open to readers worldwide.

Honestly, I love them all.
I love the bird talk pallete!
Bird Talk – definitely! I’m crazy about that one. Thanks for the giveaway!
