Giveaway: Farbenmix Fabrics
I previously featured the new prints produced by German pattern/ribbon/embellishments company Farbenmix in this post. The Farbenmix folks were kind enough to send me a big package of fabric and coordinating ribbons! And I’m here today to share the wealth. Tell me your favorite print in the comments, and I’ll draw four names to receive a yard of fabric and a couple yards of ribbon. There was an accusation in the earlier post’s comments that the Farbenmix fabrics were not of high quality, so I tested them myself. I cut and machine-laundered and machine-dried 10″ swatches of each print. They didn’t fade one bit as far as I could tell, and a normal amount of shrinkage (2-5% lengthwide and barely any widthwise). They are a lovely medium-weight 100% cotton and were beautifully soft after laundering. See pictures of the laundered swatches alongside the unwashed yardage on Flickr. Apparently there are some knockoffs of these fabrics going around, so maybe that is what the commenter received.

close second is fliepis–cute mushrooms. i’m usually not too drawn to red white and blue and the stars and stripes as prints on fabric, but that statue of liberty is just too cute!!!!

I’m partial to lovechirp myself and a huge fan of Nic Hildebrandt’s ~ But they are all lovely fabrics. So glad they sent you samples. Wish their fabric was a little more accessible in the US – but maybe in time that will come. Thanks for the giveaway

It’s hard to decide, but tattoo kids is my favorite followed by fliepis.
I am in love with those Tattoo Kids though the psychedelic mushrooms are a close second.

I think tattoo kids is my favourite (I’m going to check out her spoonflower designs as soon as I finish this) but they are all really lovely.
I think European fabrics get an unfair bad press often, maybe because people on other continents aren’t as aware of them and they can be pricey, but I have used many different makes in quilting and have only once found one that bled a lot (and in fairness, it was a dark, dark purple and i didn’t pre-wash it, so more fool me!). They are always great colours and beautiful designs and just different enough to justify the slightly higher prices. I love them!
