Preview: Soul Blossoms by Amy Butler

Amy Butler has released a preview of her Fall 2010 collection for Westminster, called Soul Blossoms. It includes a range of quilting cotton collection three colorways (Bliss, Joy, and Passion), home decor weight cottons, and cotton laminates. We’ll look at the decor weight and laminates later this week, because there are some prints unique to these collections, but today, here are the quilting cottons!

Amy hinted at some ethnic influence with a couple of her Love prints, and Soul Blossom takes it up a notch with several allusions to India (cf. Sari Blooms, Temple Doors, and those wonderful color names!). She also weaves in Art Nouveau and a little disco. My first impression was that this is the most Westminster of all her collections so far — it seems more congruent with her designer colleagues Kaffe Fassett and Phillip Jacobs. Yet it’s totally Amy in coloring and style. She seems to be going a little more eclectic with each succeeding collection. I can’t wait to see these prints in action at Quilt Market!
