Eleanor Grosch: Zoo Menagerie

{ Zoo Menagerie – Green Colorway }

I love love love Eleanor Grosch. The Philadelphia-based illustrator is best known for her retro-modern, graphic animal illustrations. I loved her collection for Keds, and in fact I still have these shoes which I wore to death and are really decrepit now but I can’t bear to get rid of them. So I was really excited to hear that she signed with FreeSpirit to produce fabric collections. The first, Zoo Menagerie, I think loses a little bit of her voice with the muted palettes, but I still think it’s awesome overall — I’d use it for my son’s room in a heartbeat. Keep an eye on her blog for hints at new fabric designs.

In addition to the quilting cottons, Zoo Menagerie will also be available in fleece and flannel. I haven’t seen the flannel yet in stores but the quilting cottons and fleece are in stores now.

    I am planning a submarine and whales quilt for my new boy expected in Feb. Any idea when the quilting weight fabric will be available? Thru Free Spirit’s store?
    Can’t wait! The whales are perfect.

    I’m a Charley Harper fan, and Eleanor’s work so clearly shows his influence and I just love what this artist is doing with this style. Can’t wait for this to hit stores, and look forward to seeing what she does next.
