Very Sanderson: 150 Years of English Decoration at The Fashion & Textile Museum London

Now through June 13, 2010, the Fashion & Textile Museum in London is featuring the exhibition Very Sanderson: 150 Years of English Decoration. Sanderson has been producing influential designer wallpapers and fabrics since 1860, and the exhibition focuses on how the company changed with and contributed to interior decoration trends over the decades. On display are textiles from the Arts & Crafts, Moderne, 1950s Festival and Pop, and even contemporary designs; artists include Lucienne Day, Picasso, John Piper, and many more. And even better, according to Vicki of Something Fine, the exhibition mimics the showroom displays of the 50s-70s — that’s her photo above. My time-travel fantasies usually involve fabric shopping (I know, one-track mind) and this is about as close as you could get to a time machine. With this going on simultaneously with Quilts exhibition at the V&A, I’m about ready to hop on a plane.
