Fabric on TV

There Scott Jeffreys (of Karma Kraft) was, sitting there watching a season 4 episode of Lost, and up pops a fabric he designed for Blumenthal (that’d be the curtains there, behind Kate). How awesome is that? I imagine that’s a good sign you’ve arrived as a fabric designer. That reminded me of other designer fabric sightings on TV — thanks to the Twitter friends who helped compile this list.

Denyse Schmidt‘s Katie Jump Rope Plaid starred in this Orbit gum commercial
… and Snippets and Blabbery spotted Katie Jump Rope dots as a surgical cap on Grey’s Anatomy.
Jenna Elfman sat on Paula Prass‘ Par Avion print from the Flights of Fancy collection on sitcom Accidentally on Purpose during a doctor’s visit, which brings of questions of sanitation, but never mind.
And here’s her Papillion print sewn up as an apron in the drama Army Wives.
Who knows of other sightings? I’ll do another post of these if I can find more.

So cool! I love that Katie Jump Rope fabric. I’d never thought to look for that kind of stuff on commercials. Fun!
I don’t know if anyone mentioned this on Twitter, but Tula Pink’s “Nest” fabric was used a curtains on an episode of “Monk”.

Bree from Desperate Housewives wore this apron (one of my favorite fabrics) but I can’t find a still from the show.

SO COOL! I use to play that game when I worked for a popular home furnishing retailer. There was something in almost every show I watched. Now I have a new game to play!
I saw Alexander Henry’s Spotted Owl Fabric on Green Tea on a shirt or pjs on the middle girl, Brigette, on “Medium” last Friday. I was so proud of myself for recognizing it.
I am horrible with names but often spot a fabric on TV that I have seen in BlogLand/Online Stores/brick and mortar stores. I usually miss some dialogue cause I’m telling Hubby to LOOK! Especially if it’s a fabric I have or have used.
there’s a movie out called Maiden Heist, and Marcia Gay Harden has a whole crazy outfit made of Katie Jump Rope – I posted a pic. Pretty awesome
Keep up the great work, fabric spotters! My son and I call this using our “detective eyes”
Great blog post! I’m going to start looking more closely at commericals and tv shows. I’ll keep you posted if I spy a fabric
I’m ALWAYS looking at fabric I see on TV and movies – like searching for treasure. I love this post and will check it often!
Have you seen Liz Lemon’s cute cupcake jammies on 30 Rock? It looks familiar. Maybe a Michael Miller?
I saw Amy Butler’s honeycomb print made into multiple pillows in Shout’s apartment on the Fresh Beat Band. Not that I watch that show or anything…
Sorry, couldn’t find a screen grab.
My On A Whim Owls were on Disney’s The Wizards of Waveryly Place

I saw Sandi Henderson’s petal party print made into throw pillows on a little girls bed. It was a commercial for some medicine, but I don’t remember what it was.
And you can see some of Joel Dewberry’s Chestnut Hill collection on Cougar Town. The neighbor/bff, Ellie, has her bedding set made from a few of the salmon prints…very pretty.
spotted this one last week pn Life Unexpected:

MoMo Wonderland! it’s the daughter’s bedding, so I expect we’ll see it a lot.
Does anyone know what the fabric is from the graphic print pillows on the couch in Accidentally on Purpose?
