The Daily Swatch: Two Weeks of Green

The Daily Swatch shows one piece of vintage fabric (almost) every day. Themes change periodically. You are welcome to add your own examples of the theme to the True Up and/or Vintage Fabric Flickr Pools.

vintage plisse floral

Vintage plissé floral fabric, from the collection of Sarodeo on Flickr. Plissé is lightweight fabric treated with a caustic soda solution during production that shrinks the fabric in parts giving it a bumpy look (stripes here, but it can be all over). The effect is similar to seersucker, which gets its texture from the weaving process.

  1. Love the multi shades of green in this one!
Looking forward to seeing all the vintage greens.

This plisse fabric is gorgeous, not all like other plisse I have seen (usually pastels for nightgowns, slips, etc). It is so contemporary. Per usual thank you for sharing. True Up is part of my daily reading and never fails to get my creative juices flowing.

I love the idea of a daily swatch. And this one is so optimistic and vibrant.
