Eco-Friendly Fabrics by Jenny Lee-Katz
Cariad Red
Jenny Lee-Katz is a Pennsylvania-based textile designer who was born in Wales. She started out hand-screenprinting her designs but worried about disposal of the chemicals and dyes used in the process. So she turned to digital printing, which allows the use of eco-friendly pigment dyes and virtually eliminates waste.
She currently has two collections: Caraid (Welsh for “Love”), modern florals in varying scales with coordinating stripes in coral red, pink, and blue; and Glan y Môr (Welsh for “Seaside”), full of midcentury-inspired sea creatures in coral red, sage, navy and light seafoam blue, muted yellow, and orange. All prints are available on linen, organic denim, or a hemp-cotton blend fabrics. Prices are on the higher end, $90/yard.

Wow–these are gorgeous! Unfortunately they are out of my price range.
I would be willing to pay a little more than usual for cloth not made with harsh chemicals, just not that much…hopefully the market will change over time and there will be more out there to choose from in a lower price range.
These are such beautiful fabrics, with lovely colours.
I just love that sand dollar fabric!
Love the designs. Especially interested in the digital printing as I have a digital printer myself but it’s a very small bed, designed for printing T-shirts.
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Won’t be able to afford them, ever, but do I love these..
Love these designs. Really enjoy them. Thanks. Sondra
