While we’re on the subject of vintage today, here are shots from vintage textile dealer A.T. Roches out of Canton, Texas (east of Dallas). Note the insane array of vintage hankies, cocktail napkins, and gift wrap along with the fabric. I did some damage here and at Mary Koval Antique Quilts (but we’ve got an interview coming up with her, so I’ll save those pictures).
As I was looking through the fabrics I turned the corner and saw Denyse Schmidt doing the same. I introduced myself and we ogled over our favorites. I asked her about the status of the effort to get Flea Market Fancy re-released, and she said it’s still up in the air. Believe it or not, as enthusiastic as the online support is, it is still small compared to the wider market demand necessary to ensure success. But anyway. It was so cool to meet her and I wish I’d been able to spend more time with her (and get a picture! errgh!). I really look forward to Hope Valley (which of course is even sweeter and more lovely in person) and her new quilt patterns. The quote quilt will have block instructions for each letter of the alphabet, so you can write your own message into your quilt. Genius.
