Fall Quilt Market 2009: Riley Blake (With Giveaway!)
Bloom and Grow by My Mind’s Eye (top) and detail of coordinates (bottom)
Riley Blake stormed onto the scene earlier this year and became an instant hit. I got to meet owner Cindy Cloward, who showed me all their new offerings.
Many of their designers have roots in the scrapbooking and paper crafts industries. My Mind’s Eye, for instance, have designed most of Riley Blake’s catalog. Bloom and Grow (October release) is above — love those simple geometrics! They also have Wheels (Jan/Feb 2010), Andrea Victoria (Feb/March 2010), and Summer Song (March/April 2010), shown below.
Below, Boo to You and Colorful Christmas, also by My Mind’s Eye, are the holiday collections slated for a 2010 release.
And next, we have Nantucket by Jody Taylor (note the basket weave print), Felicity by Emily Taylor. I’m not sure about release dates on those two. Below those, it’s Rainy Days and Mondays by Melimba and Beccabury (Feb/March 2010).
Last but not least, here is Sublime by Doohickey Designs, which will be in stores this November. And see that fat quarter pack? That’s up for grabs here today. Just leave a comment telling which current or future Riley Blake collection sings to you most. (You can click on the images to see the bigger version.) I will draw a winner randomly next Wednesday, October 21, around 9am Central U.S. time. This giveaway is open worldwide. And stay tuned for lots more quilt market giveaways as coverage continues!

I like the look of Wheels. I’ve had such a hard time finding decent prints for baby quilts for boys whose parents have gender specificity issues. And I like the coordinating patterns that would go with anything, so when you have leftovers you’re not just stuck with them. Some kids’ themed fabrics are in colorways that just don’t play well with others. Also, I like that there’s not too much white, which shows stains too easily for baby quilts, IMHO.
I love Rainy Days and Mondays!
I’m loving the Rainy Days & Mondays! The umbrellas are too cute and I love the rain drop stripes and the honeycomb dots. I love the whole line!

Oh goodness. Riley Blake has hit the scene hard! I’m not normally a cutesy lover – but the Boo to you and Colorful Christmas lines are going on my must have lists for sure. Thanks for offering a giveaway…I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I love the orange colorway of Summer Song! So cheery!
Wheels is my favorite, with All Star coming in second. I’m already imagining the quilt I’ll make for my two-year-old’s bed using the Wheels line. He loves all things transportation
Adorable!! Wheels is great – especially for boys! – and I particularly like Felicity. All the lines have wonderful color palettes!
Love so much of it! But the umbrellas & coordinating honeycomb??? The best!!
I love those Rainy Days prints!
I rather like Wheels; it’s so hard to find good non-cutesy patterns!
Oh my goodness those are fabulous! Since I’m in the midst of fall/winter holiday projects, I can’t help but LOVE the Boo to You and Colorful Christmas.
It’s “Nantucket’s” song that rings my bell, . . . . can you not hear it’s sweet melody?? Each color plays so harmonious and beautifully together. at the finale the chorus comes together in a majestically blended crescendo of color to my grateful and rapturous applause.
I love Andrea Victoria, especially in the purple colorway.
Andrea Victoria, no doubt. Those grays, oh my! Can’t wait to see all of these Riley Blake lines. I love them!
Bloom and Grow for sure for me. I just love florals.
Thanks for the great reporting from Market!
As for Riley Blake, I would have said “Be Merry”, but now I think I have to say “Rainy Days”! I can’t wait to see that one when it comes out!
It would be a hard choice to choose between great and greater. They are all so colorful and crisp. Rainy Days speaks to a part of my soul, however, so guess that’s my best favorite.
How much fun to see these with anticipation of their release. I love Nantucket but they are all beautiful!
I love the brown and orange combinations. Love the pictures! I better build my fabric fund!
“Oh my ‘doodness!” as one of the three year-olds in my child care center would say. And, for the kids, gotta love Wheels, especially the hilly roads print. For me, Rainy Days, I think. But I would be oh so happy with Sublime!
I like Andrea Victoria, and I love all the song titles!
I love the snowmen and Christmas trees on Be Merry.
Andrea Victoria is my favorite – But I will definitely be buying Wheels! That is a great “boy” print.
I am singing a loud song for Wheels (Jan/Feb 2010)…my son could use a quilt made just for him, and this would be sublime to work with!
Bloom and Grow looks beautiful!!
Thanks for showing me all the new fabrics … I can’t wait to get my hands on some of them!
Riley Blake’s umbrella line is perfect for the Seattle weather. I’m always loooking for a cute umbrella.
I’d love to do some sewing for my son with Wheels–love both the black and the blue colorways. Those trees from Summer Song are also adorable. Thanks for sharing.
I love rainy days and mondays! Hope I win! Thanks for the chance, it is beautiful fabric!
“Wheels” is great – cute and modern!
I love My Mind’s Eye. I am also a scrapbooker so have the Halloween and Christmas paper. Can’t wait to see it in fabrics!
I can’t decide between Rainy Days and Summer Song! And i love all of the crossover between the fabric and scrapbook designers!
If I had my mommy hat on, it would be Wheels, but for myself, its def Rainy Days – its v cute.
WOW! I love Summer Song – beautiful! And I love their current all-Star cottons -right up my alley with the colors!
So hard to choose just one favorite….I think Felicity.
I must be missing summer already….*S*….that one is speaking to me.
I like, Rainy Day Mondays. I think it’s the umbrellas that I enjoy and thinking about all those rainy days I’ve had and how much fun they are to play in.
It is very hard to choose because I like all the choices. I have to pick Bloom and Grow as #1. Thanks for the giveaway!
wow first I’ve ever heard of Riley Blake – Thank you for giving me a new favorite fabric line!! I adored “Bloom & Grow” and Andrea Victoria as my top choices but they are all so Original and Fantastic!!!
With new snow on the ground, I have to say Summer Song really is singing to me this week!! Wonderful!
I love these! Never heard of them, so thanks for sharing. I would say it’s a tie between Wheels and Rainy Days and Mondays. Love them both!
Love the Bloom and Grow fabric! Taking a class on how to make a Stack and Whack quilt and wish that fabric was out on the market already. It would be fabulous with all those saturated colors.
Felicity or Nantucket. But they are all lovely.
Boo to You – it is sooo cute
That Boo to You fabric is so stinking cute!
I clicked through to Riley Blake’s website for a closer look and oh, what fun. I’d have to say Summer Song really is my favorite, although it’s hard to choose.
Thanks for making this available to us–I’m a long time reader, but hardly ever jump into these things, believing that fate long ago decreed I’d never win anything. So mostly I watch from the sidelines. But these cute lines enticed me to enter.
Colorful Christmas has a contemporary twist to it!
bloom and grow by my minds eye
Bloom and grow is my favorite.
Thanks for sharing as I’ve never heard of Riley Blake, and the designs are fabulous!
Oh, I think it might be a tie between Wheels and Colorful Christmas. It’s so hard to find good “boy fabric” that Wheels is really welcome addition. But those characters in the snowsuits are just too adorable. Good thing I don’t actually have to choose! At some point, I can have it all. [Insert evil laugh here.]
Bloom & Grow is absolutely FABULOUS!! I don’t see how anyone could resist iy.
Thank you for the givaway
