Giveaway: Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Color Cards

rkcolorcard3

Robert Kaufman Fabrics has introduced 42 new colors of Kona Cotton Solids (including new organics and a premium jet black), bringing the total number of available colors up to 221. My friends at Robert Kaufman recently sent me a few of the newly updated sample cards. These cards are essential if you use Kona solids in your quilting or sewing projects at all — before I got one I was ordering colors based on web and paper catalog images, which just don’t cut it in terms of accuracy. Even if you’re fortunate enough to have a local brick-and-mortar store that carries a wide variety of Kona solids, having this card allows you to prepare a shopping list before before you leave the house.

I just have to keep one card for myself but I have two more to give away. Visit this link then come back here and leave a comment telling me the new color or colors you’re most excited about. This giveaway is open to the whole world. Comments will be open through this Friday, July 25, around 3pm; winners will be announced shortly afterwards here and on Twitter.

P.S. Since my last giveaway, I’ve received quite a few emails asking where to buy these sample cards. Pink Chalk Fabrics has the new ones and Hancock’s of Paducah has the old ones. Does anyone know of other sources?

Comments are now closed. Random.org picked #51 and #159, Heather (who likes Spice and Cayenne) and Liz (who likes Regatta). I appreciate all your comments, everyone — thanks for playing!

    Hi there,

I stumbled upon your blog today from a link over at crazy mom quilts. I was looking at fabric today for a baby blanket and was just thinking “I wish I knew what shade the solids were so that I could match and order some” and then I saw this post and just had to enter. I’m looking at an orange, teal and brown quilt so right now I’m most excited about Azure and Everglade, however I really love the calmness of Pond. thanks for being so generous. Just a quick question, if we don’t win your lovely give-away, is there somewhere we could order the color cards ourselves, I wouldn’t mind paying a small fee either.

    take care,
    Lisa

  5. Angela says:

  9. Beth says:

The whole card would be suitable for framing! I really like the Caribbean. As a quilter, it’s sometimes hard to find the right ‘white’ so I’m actually pretty excited about the Eggshell and Champagne, too.

  10. Beth says:

Howdy – found you via Twitter.

I NEVER have solids on hand so this is very cool. I love Cheddar, Green Tea and Evening.

  11. Meghan says:

I love the names. I like azure the best.

  12. La La Llama says:

I’ll have to snag one of these color cards. I’m really liking K001-356 – Everglade & K001-1255 Nutmeg.

  13. Robin says:

How handy it would be to have one of those cards! Thank you for sharing a couple of resources as to where to get it (just in case I don’t win). :) As for the new colors, the 351 – Green Tea is definitely calling to me!

  14. Holly Wiebe says:

Can’t get Kona solids here in Canada. I drool over them constantly. Would order them online, but can’t tell the exact colours. This colour card would make pretty much most of my quilting dreams come true!!!!!

  15. Kathleen says:

I am in desperate need of one of these! The shops around me sell very limited colors (and they all seem to stock the same ones) so I usually order online and hope the colors end up okay. Anyway, I must be on a green kick because I love Artichoke, Zucchini, and Olive.

  16. Marissa says:

i love the raisin color! and i never knew it was possible to have a color card…

  17. Ashley says:

How handy that would be! I’ve been using a lot of solids lately, but have such trouble remembering which particular color I used! I’m pretty partial to the new ‘pond’.

  18. Barbara says:

I really like several of the greens – Olive, Artichoke and Zuchhini.

  21. Doris says:

I’m a blue-green gal, so Everglade, Azure and Olive. Yum.

I recently tried to match up Kona cotton fabric colors for a quilt on my computer. Even though it wasn’t quite a disaster, the fabric I received wasn’t exactly what I had expected. A color card would be great!

My favorite color has to be Caribbean… it’s so vibrant and happy!

  23. Tiffany says:

wow, what a terrific tool – looks like I need to get some Azure!

  24. Meg in CT says:

Which color am I most excited about?? That’s like asking which kid I love more! Right now it’s a toss-up between Everglade (I can totally see using this to bind the blue tile-inspired quilt I’m designing at the moment) or Green Tea (which would make the sweetest sashing for the green and pink quilt I’m making for a friend’s baby girl).

I’m 45 miles from the nearest quilt shop, so I depend a lot on internet shops–this card would be invaluable!

  25. kylydia says:

Oooh, all those beautiful greens! Artichocke has to be my favorite. I’d love to pair it up with something like the Caribbean blue!

  26. Megan says:

    Green tea and artichoke!

  31. deanna says:

They are all scrumptious, but I have to say they have some great greens and pinks in the new lineup.

  40. Michele says:

    Pansy and Herb!

  41. Michelle says:

I am obsessed with yellow-greens so I like artichoke and green tea! I have the old five inch squares from Hancock’s of Paducah but I would love the color card!

  42. Carol Pope says:

What is not to like about them all – however right now the Azure would work perfectly in the quilt that is still in my head and not out to the design table yet. In fact I have to wait a bit to get that done as right now I have to do some garment sewing for myself for a September wedding– have to have something to fit that I like – so I am just starting to work on that. I just found your site by clicking thru from another blog I follow – this is really nice.
    Carol

  43. Elizabeth says:

I love a lot of the greens, but Asparagus in particular!

  44. Susan Rizzi says:

This is a great give-a-way and if I don’t win now I know where to order one of the color cards. I asked my local shop if they could order one for me and they said no! After checking out the new colors from your provided link, I think I would like to paint my bedroom the “dusty blue”.

    Thanks for offering this.
    Susan

  45. Sue Shimomura says:

LOVE Caramel and Blueberry, but, honestly, it was so hard to choose! I LOVE Kona Cotton and I hope I win because this morning I almost ordered the old card not knowing there was a new one! Thank you for a fabulous blog!

  46. Beth says:

Spice and Coffee and Raisin, oh my! ^_^

i’m hoping that one day (during my lifetime) shopping for fabrics (and yarn) online will be a lot easier with some sort of universal color spectrum computer device thingy (that shows you how technical i am). until then, color cards are absolutely key. Thanks so much for having this giveaway!

  47. Sheila says:
