I was wondering if Denyse Schmidt was going to have a new fabric collection at Quilt Market in Pittsburgh next week, since (if I remember correctly) her last two collections were unveiled at spring markets. The bad news is, no new collection yet, but the good news is there IS going to be one this year, slated for a fall release. It’s called Hope Valley, it’s quilting weight cotton, and it skews a decade or two earlier in inspiration than Katie Jump Rope and Flea Market Fancy. Denyse told me in an email that “the overall spirit of the inspiration is 20s-30s, homesteading, fresh starts, pioneering.” I got to see a peek at the initial designs — each colorway accompanied by the postcard above. It gives me that heart-squeezy feeling — I’m reminded of The Carter Family and No Depression. I just know it’s going to be another huge hit. Now, the waiting begins!
