It’s been 105°F here for as long as I can remember, so I’m suspicious that these things you call “winter” and “Christmas” are on the horizon. But the fabric companies say so, and I’ll take their word for it. Here are my favorites so far for this year’s new batch of Christmas fabrics. Above: a mix of (I think) vintage wrapping paper reproductions and original designs from Alexander Henry. See the rest of the collection here.

And these are from Michael Miller’s Funky Christmas. It’s folky yet modern and graphic … and pink! Below, 1930s reproduction master Darlene Zimmerman’s Family Gatherings collection for Robert Kaufman. I like how the coordinates are not overtly Christmas-themed, so in case you fail with your big Christmas sewing plans you can use them year-round. The plaid is perfect, in my book.

  1. You’re right, that plaid *is* perfect! The blue and the pink versions are nice also, and the little singers of the other fabric are very cute.
    From Alexander Henry “Angel cake” is adorable!

    Some of the Michael Miller fabrics really remind me of Lecien’s My Folklore collection (which I love). It’s not common Christmas fabric, and quite subtle too so you could use them outside of Christmas also.

    It feels a little strange to be thinking of Christmas already. ^^;

    I’m carrying three of the Alex Henry prints, but am pretty sure I got them just for myself–am nuts for the Angel Cakes, and have you seen the Letters to Santa?? Yum.

    There is no such thing as a bad plaid, by the way. Am I the only one who feels that way? Picked up a pile of bolts of Indian cotton plaids because we all need *more* plaid in our lives…
