Happy Happy June

I’m very excited that June is here! The biggest deal is that we celebrate my son’s first birthday on the 12th. The second biggest deal is that I’m finished with my day job in four days, which means I can devote more time to True Up. My goals for the summer are to create a logo and identity for promotional materials, get an advertising program up and running, and post even more each day. (I know a lot of people hate seeing advertising on blogs, but if True Up is going to last, it needs to bring in some income eventually … sorry!)

And, I start a drawing class this week — I used to draw all the time up through college, but as the years have gone by the “oh I can’t draw” mentality has taken hold. After revisiting Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain I’m calling bullshit on that self-defeating thinking. I’ve got so many fabric design ideas and hopefully by starting to draw again I can shake them out of my head and get them onto paper/computer/fabric.

I have posts brewing for the upcoming month on linen, organic fabric sources, new fabric lines, and more. As always, if you have any ideas, requests (for Daily Swatch themes especially) , questions, anything, please let me know, I love hearing from you.

By the way, if you see something fabric-related on Flickr please take advantage of their new feature Share This! and send it to me. Rosa has been alerting me to some very cool stuff that I didn’t previously know about this way.

  1. Wow, what an exciting month you have planned! It’s so great that you are dedicating yourself to your projects more. Enjoy the drawing class… I’m jealous (of this and that you’re quitting your day job!) I ought to go to one myself! I constantly say “I can’t draw” when somewhere in the back of my head I know I can, it’s just I’m lazy and out of practice.
