Allrighty people, it’s reader participation time!
Your assignment: Write on your blog about your favorite contemporary fabric ever. Let’s keep it to fabrics with a printed or woven design. You must limit it to one design, in one colorway, and it must be contemporary — let’s say 1990+. (We’ll definitely do vintage another time.) Post a picture of it and explain why it’s your favorite. That’s it!
If you can, post your image in the True Up Flickr pool (tag: favememe). If you don’t have your own online outlet, just write about your fave in the comments, and link to an image if you can.
I bet it’ll be extremely difficult to choose just one. (It helps to do it without looking in your stash first.) If it makes you feel better, I’m thinking of doing a whole week of this sometime soon, like your favorite floral on Monday, favorite novelty on Tuesday, etc. But for now, stick to one single overall favorite!
I’ve already tried to think of ways that I could cheat. But I committed. Here’s my #1.
Kaffe Fassett’s Paperweight in the pumpkin colorway. I love it because it has every color I love, so it goes with everything I have. It’s a mini course in color harmony. It reflects my love for geometric prints and organic hand-drawn or hand-painted designs over computer-generated “clean lines.” Novelty prints dominate my stash but these are shorter term love affairs — there’s a greater chance of them getting tired with age. This one is a classic. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s been in production far longer than most quilting cottons.)
I can’t wait to see what your favorite is.
