Spoonflower, the digital fabric printing service, is now in the initial rounds of printing and shipping fabric. Check out the video of this week’s fabrics, representing their second round of shipments:
Did you catch the silhouettes? I thought of getting my son’s silhouette printed too — one of my roadblocks is figuring out the end use and gearing the design toward it!
Episode 1 is here.
As a fellow language person, I love the speech balloons!
If you’re blessed with a Spoonflower invite but stuck because you don’t know what to design, here’s my advice: start with what you know and love the most in life. Look to your family, hobbies, and career for inspiration and motifs. Giving yourself constraints is the only way to get over infinite-option paralysis. For example, “I’m going to make a non-repeating design out of my son’s silhouette, for the end use of a pillow, using the colors already in his nursery.” (Of course I have yet to follow my own advice.) If you can’t give yourself constraints, have someone else give them to you. Heck, use this thread to give each other constraints. Or maybe I can start posting “assignments.” Would you be interested in that?
